Is there any way to free up the carriage? I even tried an arcane sequence of Power and Resume button pushes that I found on another forum, all to no avail. I've tried turning it off and on, unplugging it, rebooting the computer, and everything else I can think of. If I leave the printer on for a while it actually makes a bad smell, like an electric motor or circuit getting too hot - as if it's trying to move into action but cannot. The print head/cartridge carriage seems to be stuck in the far right, where it normally rests when not in use.
The software (on Windows XP) gives this error: I put it in and the printer worked great I was able to align the heads, print a test page, and print a few pages of documents just fine.Ī couple of hours later I fired it up to print some more, and it just would not print. Recently some of the jets stopped squirting ink, so I ordered a new Canon QY6-0064 print head. (I especially love the paper-saving automatic duplex feature.) I love this printer and really do not want to give it up. I have a wonderful Pixma iP3000 that I have used with pleasure for many years.
